SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — As multiple Florida agencies continue to work on their communities’ hurricane recover efforts while responding to calls, some urban search and rescue teams are pulling out of the area.

Members of Florida Task Force One, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, plan to head home from the barrier islands Tuesday, according to the department.

The task force was part of a 96-person Type 1 Task Force team that spent two weeks assisting with hurricane relief efforts such as search and rescue, reconnaissance, needs assessments and evacuations.

Ohio Task Force 1, Indiana Task Force 1 and Virginia Task Force Two have returned home, according to news reports.
