ZELIENOPLE, Pa. — The 2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games will begin in just under two months in Butler County, Pennsylvania on July 15 through July 21. The Games are a biennial, multi-sport, Olympic-style event of competitions that feature skills used in first responders’ line of work.

In recognition of National Police Week, retired police officer and two-time Can-Am Police-Fire Games participant Syd Gravel shared, “The Games feature social, yet competitive events that bring out the best of those who work in law enforcement and are first responders. While we all want to win, the Games bring us together on many levels to root for each other to succeed.”

A variety of sporting events including hockey, golf, pistol, skeet and trap, powerlifting, toughest firefighter and toughest competitor alive competitions will take place during the Games at different venues across Butler County, located only 25 miles from Pittsburgh, including UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, Slippery Rock University, Moraine State Park and Butler County Community College’s (BC3) Public Safety Training Facility. Net proceeds of the Games will benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania. The registration deadline for the Games is rapidly approaching.

“We are inviting all active and retired Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMS, and Corrections personnel, along with family members 18 years and older, to register and participate in this year’s Can-Am Police-Fire Games this July,” said Sheriff of Butler County and 2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games Chairman & CEO Michael T. Slupe. “Our team, led by the Board of Directors, event organizers, sponsors and volunteers, are ready to welcome participants and show off what Butler County has to offer.”

Companies including Heroes First at Churchill Mortgage, MSA Safety, First Energy, Slippery Rock University, Peoples Natural Gas, Independence Health System as well as Motorola Solutions will be partnering with the Games.
