Canadian medics launch PTSD campaign

The social media campaign aims to spread awareness and support among first responders suffering from mental illness

OWEN SOUND, Ontario — A Bruce County paramedic has helped launch a social media campaign that is raising awareness about mental illness among first responders.

Jill Foster, who is both a Bruce County and Elgin County paramedic, launched the “I’ve got your back 911" Facebook and Twitter campaign last week along with three other Elgin County paramedics and she said the response has been fantastic so far.

“We launched this campaign on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and it has been crazy,” said Foster, who has been a paramedic in Bruce County for about two-and-a-half years. “It actually has been really overwhelming, the response we have had.”
