NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue team responded to a private citizen’s request Monday to search for a wedding band that had gone missing near Saugatuck Falls.

The missing wedding band had “significant sentimental value” as it was the citizen’s father’s ring, the Newtown volunteer dive team said on social media.

The search was conducted in West Redding near Saugatuck Falls, and the local police and fire departments were notified before the start of the dive operations, NUSAR said in a social media post.

“Team used a combination of scuba for deeper water search, down to 25 feet and snorkel for the shallows and rock wall,” NUSAR said in its social media post. “Ring was located after 10 minutes of searching and reunited with its owner.”
