HARTLAND, Wis. — Two first responders, a father and daughter, were among eight families displaced in a blaze at an apartment complex in Wisconsin last week.

Hartland Fire Capt. Randy Gilmore was off-duty and working at his full-time job when he learned that his residence was on fire, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Gilmore lived at the Summit Lake apartment complex with his wife and his daughter, who was an EMT at the Hartland Fire Department, according to Chief Dave Jambretz.

Several units sustained extensive damage during the blaze, and a total of eight families were displaced. An online fundraiser was set up by the company that manages the apartments, which said the funds will be evenly split between the eight affected families. The fundraiser has received more than $15,000 in donations as of Tuesday.

All occupants of the apartment complex were safely evacuated, with only one tenant sustaining minor injuries, according to the Hartland Fire Department. More than a dozen fire departments and other agencies responded to the blaze.
