ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Arlene Starks called St. Louis police this month complaining of a scam and seeking consumer protection.
Police responded to investigate, and promptly provided Starks the security of a jail cell.
She called 911 about 6:15 p.m. Aug. 16 to complain that she paid her drug dealer too much for marijuana, court documents say.
Dispatchers who took the call sent Officer Trevor Russell to the 1700 block of Billups Avenue to investigate, police say.
Russell took her complaint, then took her to jail.
Starks, 54, is charged with misusing 911, a misdemeanor. She was released from the city jail Aug. 20 on a $1,000 cash bail.
Starks’ criminal history includes convictions of assault, harassment and prostitution.
She could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Her lawyer Sue McGraugh, declined comment.
