GURABO, Puerto Rico – A 51-year-old EMT was shot and killed during a hostage-taking training exercise in Gurabo City, Puerto Rico.
According to preliminary information the bullet shot by one of the other rescuers struck EMT Miguel Urrutia Santiago in the shoulder, reported by WAPA.tv.
Santiago, an EMT with years of experience, was rushed to the hospital in Gurabo City where he was pronounced dead.
The shooter, another rescuer, did not realize he had a live round instead of a blank.
The drill of volunteer rescuers was being conducted on a private farm.
