CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police have charged the driver of a fatal crash with reckless driving. A firefighter and trooper were also injured in the incident.
Richmond.com reported that troopers were called to a vehicle crash that involved victim Sharon Letender. Letender collided with a sedan and both cars slid into the median of a highway. The driver of the sedan was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Letender and two passengers in the sedan weren’t injured in the crash.
As troopers, Letender and the two passengers were standing in the median, a car ran off the road and struck the trooper’s car. The impact caused the car to slide into the median. The trooper was hit; Letender was thrown into a firefighter and died at the scene.
The trooper and a passenger were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. The firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver who struck them was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
