Salt River, Ariz. — The Salt River Fire Department firefighter-EMT who died Friday in a crash on State Route 87 is Brendan Bessee, the Globe Fire Department said. According to 3TV/CBS 5, Bessee recently transferred from Globe to Salt River.

The other EMS provider in the ambulance was Tyler Packer, and he is reportedly in critical condition after the ambulance and tractor-trailer crash. The truck driver also sustained injuries, but they are minor.

The Department of Public Safety said that the ambulance crew was responding to a call at the time of the collision.
