EMS agency bilked for $50K by emergency vehicle company owner

He received money for two trucks and equipment, but when they didn’t show up police traced the funds back to his account

EARLY, Texas — A Texas ambulance service was robbed of more than $50,000 when a business owner pocketed money intended for new trucks and equipment.

Daniel Feemster, 32, of Stephenville was arrested Saturday and charged with theft by deception from the Heart of Texas EMS.

In September 2013, Feemster, the owner and operator of Cross Timbers Emergency Vehicles, received a check from the EMS agency for two trucks for $20,000 each, $24,000 worth of equipment, and $10,000 for tax titles for both trucks, KTXS reports.

But when the EMS agency didn’t receive the trucks by the December due date, local police began looking into it. Police said only a small portion of the money was given to the manufacturer for the trucks and equipment, and the rest was traced back to Feemster’s account.

Heart of Texas EMS has since received one truck by going straight to the manufacturer, and will be using a different company for future purchases.
