DOUGLASSVILLE, Pa. — Authorities say a woman is hospitalized in critical condition after she crashed her car in southeastern Pennsylvania and wasn’t found for nearly 15 hours.

Police in Amity Township say neighbors reported hearing a loud noise around midnight Thursday but dismissed it as road noise from nearby Route 422.

But many hours later an out-of-place sign and skid marks prompted one neighbor to investigate, leading to the discovery of the overturned car and the badly injured motorist.

Investigators say the woman had several broken bones, including a broken jaw that may have kept her from calling for help. She was found outside the vehicle but officials haven’t determined if she was thrown from the car or had tried to crawl to safety.

Police did not release the woman’s name.
