Chest pain patient calls 911 from ambulance

Ind. man was upset with slow ride to the hospital

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A man with chest pain called 911 from the ambulance patient care compartment to complain the ambulance was going too slow.

The strange phone call was made as the man was being driven to a hospital in Evansville, Ind., reported WFIE.

Here’s some of the man’s conversation with the 911 dispatcher:

Caller: “Ma’am they are going very slow, they’re going so slow. I want to get there quickly.”

Dispatcher: “Sir....Sir....Sir...”

Caller: “Yes, ma’am.”

Dispatcher: “You’re in the back of an ambulance”?

Caller: “Yes ma’am.”

Dispatcher: “Sir can you hear me?”

Caller: “Yes ma’am.”

Dispatcher: “I have nothing to do with the ambulance service, I’m going to connect you with them so you can tell them to tell the driver to go faster, stay on the phone.”

The police reported traffic was slowing down the ambulance.
