New CPR technique shows potential

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — An engineer at Purdue University has invented a new CPR procedure that has the potential to change standard resuscitation practices within EMS. The technique, called “only abdominal compression cardiopulmonary resuscitation,” is done by having the rescuer apply pressure to the patient's abdomen, as opposed to the standard procedure of pressing to the rib cage.
