ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A dispatcher walked a panicked mother through how to save her 1-year-old son’s life after he fell into a pool.

ABC7 Chicago reported that the toddler had slipped out of the family’s back door and fell into the backyard pool on Christmas Day.

The toddler’s mother called 911, and an Orange County Fire Authority dispatcher walked her through CPR, remaining calm through the frantic incident.

“Place your hand on his forehead, the other hand on his neck and carefully tilt the head back,” the dispatcher told the mom.

The mother performed CPR on the toddler until an EMS crew arrived.

“We have 60 seconds from the time we answer a call until it’s initially dispatched to get an address, to verify the phone number and get a general complaint,” the dispatcher’s colleague, Sarah Alicea, said. “It’s something that we are very well-trained for. We don’t really doubt it, we just jump right into it.”

The toddler is currently awaiting transition out of the ICU, and the family hopes to bring him home next week.
