BOZEMAN, Mont. — Touted as a way to save law enforcement time, increase safety and improve the prosecution of DUIs, Gallatin County law enforcement has partnered with an ambulance service to give DUI offenders blood draws at the jail.
The pilot program, which began Thursday, will have American Medical Response paramedics and emergency responders perform blood draws on drivers under investigation for DUI at the Gallatin County jail rather than at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, where they have been taken in the past.
Bozeman Police Deputy Chief Rich McLane said Bozeman officers arrest someone for a DUI every single day.
