Ambulance records found in Texas dumpster

The files contain patients’ personal information from a defunct ambulance company and the state is investigating how they got there

MCALLEN, Texas – State investigators are trying to determine how hundreds of medical documents containing patients’ personal information wound up in a storage facility dumpster.

Elizabeth Ramirez was emptying out a storage unit and found the files in a dumpster, KRGV reports.

The records range from 2002 to 2011, and contain Social Security numbers, addresses, Medicare and Medicaid forms and bank account numbers. Most appear to be from the Xtra Mile Ambulance Service company, which is no longer in business.
