WHITE ABBEY, Ireland — Two Northern Ireland Ambulance Service ambulances were in separate collisions on the same day while responding to emergency calls.
The first incident occurred at 8:30 a.m. when crews were responding to a non-life-threatening call, and a vehicle emerged from a side road and struck the ambulance. There were no serious injuries.
“The crew were shaken by the incident and have been given a period of downtime,” according to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
The second incident occurred at 8:50 a.m. when another ambulance was transporting a patient with a non-life threatening emergency to a hospital. A vehicle also emerged from a side road and clipped the rear end of the ambulance. The impact caused the rig to spin and flip onto its side. The patient and crew were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
