FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Officials are urging drivers to be aware of their surroundings after an accident involving an ambulance in Forsyth County.
An ambulance was hit by an SUV on Canton Highway on Monday morning when the driver of the SUV unexpectedly turned left. A dash camera of a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office squad car recorded the crash.
“Everyone, prior to this, were pretty much stopped letting the ambulance come through,” said Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Doug Rainwater. The driver apparently didn’t see the lights of hear the sirens of the ambulance or the squad car. Now he’s a facing a misdemeanor charge. “It’s a lot of noise, so that’s one reason the driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle. Not just one siren was sounding — but also two,” said Rainwater.
