NEWRY, Ireland — A man is due in court charged with a number of offences after a firework was thrown at an ambulance crew as they treated an injured man.
The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday morning after the crew were called to a bar in the Trevor Hill area of Newry. As the ambulance staff were treating a patient who had suffered an injury to his leg, a firework exploded at their feet.
The blast caused burn damage to their uniforms. Despite the distraction, crews continued to treat the patient before taking him to the nearby Daisy Hill Hospital.
