MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — The 911 call comes in around 1 p.m. in Merrillville, ground zero for traffic congestion in the region on this busy weekday.
A dispatcher flatly states: “Fire alarm at a nursing home, possible evacuation needed.”
Seconds later, Prompt Ambulance Service’s “chase vehicle” speeds from its home base, alerting dispatch that it’s in service and responding.
