ANNAPOLIS, Md. — An elderly man was safely transported to the hospital last week, thanks to a life-saving device kept within reach at the Heritage Harbour Community Lodge. The 75-year-old man had gone into cardiac arrest at the fitness center of the adult community just outside Annapolis
By the time firefighters arrived, three workers from American Pool Management Co. had administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and used an automated external defibrillator. Firefighters then transported the man to Anne Arundel Medical Center in Parole.
“They saved his life,” said Division Chief Michael Cox, a county Fire Department spokesman. “The importance of AEDs in the public domain cannot be stressed enough. The chances of survival are greatly improved (when) automated external defibrillators are immediately available when someone collapses.”
