DAYTON, Ohio — A Dayton EMT was placed on unpaid administration leave, after facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash.
Brandon Lee has been with the Dayton Fire Department for two years. Lee had a hearing with the Dayton Fire Department on Friday morning and was placed on unpaid administrative leave. “As an employer, the City of Dayton is absolutely concerned about this,” Acting Dayton Fire Chief Jeffrey Payne said. Chief Payne said Lee has lost his driving privileges and won’t be allowed to return to work, pending the investigation and his court hearings.
Rick McCoppin feels lucky to be alive. “Oh I’m very lucky. If he would’ve hit me head on, I maybe wouldn’t be here.” He said. According to reports, McCoppin was hit by Lee, who was in his own car, and drunk, and going the wrong way on 35.
