TRENTON, N.C. — A treasurer for a North Carolina EMS department has been arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars.
According to WITN.com, Karen Mercer reportedly stole $4,350 from the Trenton EMS department between September 2014 and December 2016 and used the stolen money for personal finances.
The county noticed money was missing from the department and notified the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. After finishing their investigation, the bureau arrested Mercer.
Mercer was charged with two counts of embezzlement and released on a $20,000 bond.
