STERLING, Colo. — Approximately 30 people attended a meeting last week to hear information on an Emergency Medical Services consultation program offered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). In the audience were members of the EMS Council, Sterling City Council, Logan County Commissioners, Life Care Medical, Northeastern Junior College, Sterling Fire, Merino Fire, Fleming Fire, Sterling Regional MedCenter, Morgan County Ambulance, Weld County Paramedic Services, Office of Emergency Management and the Sterling Emergency Communications Center.
Presenting the program were representatives of the CDPHE: D. Randy Kuykendall, chief of emergency medical and trauma services section; Michelle M. Reese, deputy EMTS section chief; and Sean M. Caffrey, system development coordinator.
The program is designed to provide local elected officials, policymakers and EMT-system stakeholders with an independent expert analysis of the current structure and function of their emergency medical and trauma response system and an overview of potential future pathways for their EMTS system.
