WAUSAU, Wis. — An EMT and ski patroller who died in a car crash on Halloween was honored with a “final run.”
Wausau Daily Herald reported that EMT Tari Blank, who was also a 14-year veteran member of Granite Peak Ski Patrol, was remembered as ski patrollers and Blank’s family and friends made the traditional “final run” at Granite Peak Ski Area.
Before making their way down the hill, Blank’s colleagues and loved ones shared stories about her passion for her work.
“She was always there with us and for us,” patrol member Scott Rifleman said.
Around 60 ski patrollers packed a toboggan with Blank’s jacket and other items and escorted it down the hill.
Assistant patrol representative Chuck Jonas presented a jacket to Blank’s husband at the bottom of the hill, and her name was placed on a memorial plaque.
“This is closure,” Rifleman said. “This is closure for her and for all of us.”
