MADISON COUNTY, Ark. — A paramedic who is battling leukemia will be supported by his friends and colleagues through a fundraiser.
The Madison County Record reported that Madison County EMS paramedic Brian “Boudreaux” Coffman is battling acute myeloid leukemia and is currently waiting for a bone marrow match so he can have a transplant, but insurance doesn’t cover this cost.
Coffman’s colleague, Whitehouse Fire Department lieutenant and paramedic Christy Hill, decided to throw a fundraiser to raise money for the Coffman family to help support them in their fight against leukemia, including their trips to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where doctors are searching for a match.
“I’ve been pretty blessed this whole journey,” Coffman said.
Hill said Coffman’s attitude has helped him with his struggle.
“Bou has been his number one cheerleader,” Hill said. “He’s not taking the little things too seriously.”
A benefit chili dinner and auction will be held Dec. 16. The auction will feature holiday decorations, a shotgun, tools, art, a one-hour massage and more.
