Photo of the Week: 'Another side' of the pandemic

Armstrong Ambulance Service (Mass.) EMTs heated up a warm meal for an older patient left isolated during the crisis

Calling all EMS photographers! EMS1 wants to see pictures of you in action or training. Submit a photo — it could be selected as our Photo of the Week! Be sure to include your name, department information and some background on the photo.

This week's Photo of the Week shows two EMTs helping a patient affected by "another side" of the pandemic — social isolation.

Armstrong Ambulance Service in Massachusetts shared that EMTs Wendy Wollaeger and Michelle Aliviera-Izidoro heated up a warm meal for an older adult patient whose family has been unable to visit and care for her during the crisis.

"She had not had a meal since yesterday," Wollaeger said in a Facebook post. "After getting her settled, we made sure she had some warm soup for dinner."

Armstrong Ambulance Service said in a statement that providers have been working to make connections with patients as they tackle the crisis, and that the community had repaid them with an outpouring of gratitude, including by delivering food and thank you notes to their stations.
