OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. — An off-duty paramedic came to the aid of a man who slipped and fell at Lake Jacassee and sustained critical injuries.
The medic heard calls for help after the man got out of a boat to go for a walk along the river, and fell into rocks on the river, wspa.com reports.
With no cell phone service some in the area left to call 911 as the medic, with the help of bystanders, put together a make-shift stretcher.
They used it to transport the injured man to rescue crews, and he was airlifted to an area hospital.
