DALLAS — Jonathan Lee Lyons apparently had a bad case of the munchies.
The 39-year-old Terrell man went into cardiac arrest Thursday after he tried to eat all the marijuana he had before he was arrested, police say.
Lyons, who was wanted on several other charges, tried to flee after he was confronted by the Terrell Narcotics Unit, according to a report from InForney.com. While Lyons was running away, he pulled out a baggie of marijuana and began eating it.
Police said they were able to catch Lyons before he ate all of the marijuana.
An ambulance was called during Lyons’ arrest. He was treated and handed back over to police, who took him to jail, according to InForney.com.
“Overnight in the jail, he seemed in good condition,” Terrell police Captain A.D. Sansom said in a written statement. “During his arraignment Friday morning, detention officers observed he was visibly shaking.”
An ambulance was called, and he was taken to Kaufman Presbyterian Hospital, according to Sansom.
The hospital said Lyons had gone into cardiac arrest, but he was revived. As of Saturday evening, he was still in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Lyons is charged with tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and evading arrest, in addition to the past charges for which police had warrants for his arrest.
