WILMINGTON, N.C. — A medical center participated in a program that brings holiday cheer to families in need.

Employees of New Hanover Regional Medical Center donated bikes, clothing, toys and more through the Adopt-A-Family program. Because of their donations, over 80 families will receive gifts this year.

The medical center donated so many items that it took five ambulances and a semi-truck to transport everything, according to a Facebook post.

“I am so proud of our organization and the way we adopt so many families to ensure they have a joyous holiday. Another way we are Leading Our Community to Outstanding Health,” NHRMC president and CEO John Gizdic said.
