Ariz. medic has seizure on the job

His partner cared for him after he had a seizure while caring for a cardiac patient in the back of the rig; doctors discovered multiple brain aneurysms, including one that burst

TUCSON, Ariz. — Mike Kacsur and Nate Watson’s bond extends beyond the hours spent together working for Rural/Metro’s Southwest Ambulance.

“I mean he’s like a brother you know and we go to each other’s houses, we do holidays, we know each other’s families,” Watson said. Last Sunday night, EMT Watson was driving, while his longtime partner and paramedic Kacsur cared for a patient in cardiac distress. After passing the Sahuarita exit on I-19 northbound for Tucson, Watson noticed the patient wasn’t the only one having a medical emergency.

“I tried talking to him and he couldn’t answer me,” Watson recalled, “so I kind of adjusted my mirror so I could see him and I could see he was having a seizure.”
