SACRAMENTO — A fire crew responded to a call last month about a woman going into labor, only to find out it was the wife of a fellow first responder.

CBS 13 reports that Sacramento Fire Department Firefighter-Paramedic Peter Hernandez and intern Kai Loechler were on scene to help with the birth of Paramedic Rylan Smith’s baby girl, Amira.

“It’s not every day a Sacramento Fire crew helps in delivering a Sac Metro paramedic’s baby,” Hernandez said.

The couple came by the station to officially introduce Baby Amira and accept a personalized blanket from the crew.
