MINEOLA, N.Y. — A man was arrested after fleeing in an ambulance with his toddler in the back when his girlfriend reported to police that he had assaulted her.
NBC New York reported that police responded to a hospital after a woman reported that her boyfriend, Horace Campbell, had assaulted to her.
The woman told officers that Campbell was in an Empire State Medi-Cab ambulance, and they tried to stop him as he swerved in and out of his lane.
When he was eventually stopped, police said they found his 18-month-old son in the back of the ambulance, and Campbell was driving drunk.
Campbell was arrested, the toddler was returned to a family member and Campbell’s girlfriend was treated for injuries to her face.
Campbell, who is an employee of Empire State Medi-Cab, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawfully fleeing police and assault.
