CANTON, Mass. — A young woman and a middle-aged man sustained serious injuries and were medflighted to Boston Medical Center Sunday night after a head-on traffic collision on Route 138 involving a privately-owned ambulance and a car.
A female EMT riding in the ambulance and a man driving the smaller car were medflighted, while a male EMT has been transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center via another ambulance.
There was no patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision.
The two EMTs in the crash are s in their 20s or 30s, and the driver of the car is middle-aged, Canton Fire Chief Charles Doody said.
The victims who were medflighted sustained serious internal injuries, Doody said. The male EMT had serious injuries but was stable enough to receive ground transport.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:16 p.m. at 833 Turnpike St. As of 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.
