AUSTIN, Texas — An ambulance was hit by a rock near an overpass while returning from a hospital after transporting a patient.
The Williamson County EMS ambulance was left with a large dent in the hood, KVUE reported.
“Initially they weren’t sure what it was. They thought it was just road debris,” said Williamson County EMS Division Commander Ed Tydings.
“What’s scary to me is hitting the windshield and one of my paramedics actually getting seriously injured. Second of all, if we had a patient in the back and my paramedic was hit, that could have caused a real bad collision,” Tydings said. “Ambulances take people that are already hurt so we don’t want to have them hurt worse.”
It was the second rock-throwing incident happening over the weekend in Austin.
