MANNINGTON TWP., N.J. — Local government representatives, members of municipal ambulance squads and county residents were invited to a meeting to hear details of the plan for a possible countywide ambulance Tuesday night.

Roughly 50 people attended the meeting held at the Salem County Emergency Services building to hear about how the potential ambulance would be paid for, how it would operate and how it would help.

The county first considered the countywide ambulance a few years ago, but the plan had to be abandoned due to a lack of funding. The Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders thought the county was now in a much better financial position and asked Emergency Services Director Jeff Pompper and Deputy Director Scott Haines to re-explore the possibility of starting the ambulance.
