Man arrested after jumping out of moving ambulance

EMTs were transporting him to a mental facility when he fled the ambulance as it was entering a highway on-ramp

AMHERST, Ohio — A mentally ill patient jumped out of a moving ambulance as it was entering a highway on-ramp, and fled south on state Route 58.

EMTs were transporting the patient on June 8 around 8:30 p.m. He had been “pink slipped” to a facility, the Morning Journal reports.

Police searched the area and spotted him entering a McDonalds restaurant. He was standing at the counter talking to an employee when Officer Tory Donaldson entered. He resisted arrested and was Tased, then taken into custody and transported to a local mental hospital.
