SMITH COUNTY, Texas — A woman is dead and two EMS providers are injured after a Chevy Impala collided with a UT Health East Texas ambulance Tuesday on a wet road, KLTV reported.

The ambulance was flipped on its side and did not have a patient inside.

“What we know for right now due to witnesses is that the passenger vehicle lost control due to the wet roadway and the rain and went into the oncoming lane of the ambulance, and the passenger vehicle struck,” said Adam Albritton with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver of the Chevy Impala was pronounced dead at the scene.

Albritton said another UT Health ambulance transported the EMS providers to the hospital for treatment of incapacitating injuries.

UT Health told the news outlet that both are in fair condition.
