WASHINGTON – D.C. Fire and EMS is facing criticism for a slow ambulance response to a man who was stabbed in the torso on Monday night in the hallway of a building.
Witnesses say at least nine police cruisers responded right away, but that the 24-year-old waited 43 minutes for an ambulance to arrive, ABC7 reports.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Tim Wilson said an ambulance arrived 28 minutes after the 911 call. Paramedics were also on the scene within four minutes of being dispatched and “provided the patient with advanced medical care while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.”
The incident is under review as DCFEMS looks at ways to improve quality of care. This is the fourth case of a slow D.C. ambulance response over the past two years, according to ABC7’s records
