FREEHOLD, N.J. — A series of patrol cars rushed into the Freehold Raceway Mall parking lot April 16, responding a frightening 911 call from the food court.
But when they arrived, officers found no signs of trouble. Shoppers were browsing clothing racks and sitting down for dinner. The mall owner wasn’t aware of any emergency, much less a 911 call.
They had just been “swatted.”
