ST. LOUIS — A man died from injuries he incurred in a crash after the ambulance crew responding to his emergency was delayed when the ambulance was hit by a rock.
An EMS crew was responding to the report of a crash between a vehicle and a man on a moped, when a man threw a rock, striking the passenger side of the rig, KSDK reported. The suspect fled.
The patient waiting for the transport was speaking with police, and sources on the scene reported his injuries appeared to be non-critical.
Once the ambulance arrived after the delay, the patient was transported to the hospital. There, his condition worsened, and he was rushed into emergency surgery. He later died from his injuries.
In the police report, officers noted that the vandalism incident delayed the ambulance’s arrival on scene.
