YORK COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating an early morning crash in York County that left three dead and multiple injured on Interstate 64.
Emergency responders received a call around 1:38 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash that involved a commercial bus and commercial tractor-trailer at mile marker 241 eastbound, according to a release from state police.
Police say 22 passengers were on the bus, and those who survived are facing various levels of injuries and have been transported to local hospitals. Next of kin will be contacted as identities are confirmed.
None of the bus passengers were restrained at the time of the collision, police said.
Two lanes of I-64 eastbound, near Colonial Parkway, and one westbound lane are blocked as the investigation continues.
