LOS ANGELES — A California bicycle company has donated four electric bicycles to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Bike Medic Team.
The battery-powered e-bikes can travel at nearly 30 miles per hour and traverse up to 40 miles on one battery charge, according to the LAFD.
The bikes, worth $1,600 each, were donated by Aventon Bikes, which is based in Ontario, Calif.
“When we heard LAFD was looking to upgrade to Ebikes, we knew it was time to step in and help!” said Aventon Chief Marketing Officer Adele Nasr, in a statement.
The LAFD Bike Medic Team provides time-sensitive ALS response at the Los Angeles International Airport and also patrols mass gatherings such as fairs, festivals, parades, professional sports events and the Los Angeles Marathon, according to the LAFD.
