CLEARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Clearcreek Twp. man is expected to remain in the Warren County Jail, while awaiting indictment on charges alleging he kidnapped a man who later escaped, stole a township ambulance and drove it to Dayton.
On Tuesday, Judge Gary Loxley left bond for Christopher A. Edwards, 38, at $350,000, as previously set, and bound the case against Edwards over for consideration by a grand jury.
Edwards was charged with kidnapping, felonious assault and a probation violation on Oct. 21, after investigation of the ambulance theft led police back to his residence across from a fire station on Lytle-Five Points Road in Clearcreek Twp.
Edwards is among those who allegedly held the victim in a dog cage and tortured him for several days at a home across from the fire station, before he stole the ambulance and escaped to Dayton Children’s Hospital.
On Tuesday, Edwards agreed to waive his right to a preliminary hearing in Warren County Court, enabling the judge to bind the case over to the grand jury.
