DETROIT — Detroit fire and EMS crews significantly decreased their response times.
For the past two weeks their response times to high-priority calls averaged 8:45 minutes, Click on Detroit reported.
Only a few years ago Detroit was making headlines for their particularly long response times.
“It was between 16 and 18 minutes,” Detroit EMS Chief Sean Larkins said.
The city reprioritized runs to improve times, and also added ambulances and medics.
The mayor is expecting the times to continue improving with 14 fire companies responding to EMS and fire calls.
