HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. — Two brothers who are Los Angeles County Fire Department junior lifeguards were recognized Tuesday for quickly starting CPR and calling 911 as their father went into cardiac arrest last fall.

Jackson Lowrey, 13, made the phone call while his brother James, 15, began performing CPR on their dad, Jim. Their mother, Nicola, also performed CPR. Paramedics from station 100 took over.

Jim has recovered, and the family encourages everyone to learn CPR.
