BOCA RATON, Fla. — The National EMS Management Association is expanding its EMS Officers’ Competencies and Credentialing program.

The Managing EMS Officer exam will be rolled out at the Pinnacle EMS Leadership and Management Conference, August 7-11, 2017 in Boca Raton, Fla. The Managing EMS Officer exam will include both a written test segment and oral boards. This test will also be available at EMS World Expo and the AAA’s Annual Conference.

NEMSMA also offers preparation courses to help candidates understand the format and style of the examinations. Preparation courses include a review of the competencies and are routinely scheduled at exam locations before certification exams. Candidates can choose to take the preparation course at any time before registering for the exam.

NEMSMA rolled out the first, national, comprehensive EMS Officers assessment and certification program last year with its inaugural examination for Supervising EMS Officers, held at the Pinnacle EMS Leadership and Management Conference. More than two dozen individuals successfully completed the application process, submitted required prerequisite documentation regarding eligibility and passed the validation written test in June of last year. They are the first EMS officers in the country to be officially recognized and certified as EMS Supervising Officers.

The Association will provide additional testing opportunities for EMS Supervising Officer throughout 2017, most notably at the Northwest Colorado EMS Leadership Conference, the Pinnacle EMS Leadership & Management conference, EMS World Expo and the American Ambulance Association’s Annual Conference.
