CINCINNATI — An Ohio pizzeria has begun stocking Narcan after saving two people who overdosed Monday.
Isadore’s Pizzeria employees told WLWT they spotted two individuals passed out in the parking lot before opening the store.
“Her lips are purple, there ain’t no telling how long they’ve been sitting here. Their hands, their fingernails are purple,” one worker said.
Employees used Narcan provided by a nurse who happened to stop by the restaurant.
“I could hear the guy breathing a little bit by that lady, I thought she was gone,” employee Stacy Patterson said.
Following the incident, the pizzeria has a Narcan kit under the counter as a precautionary measure. Opiate overdoses in the state have skyrocketed, leaving first responders and members of the community to depend on naloxone.
“It really is a lot on your shoulders thinking we saved somebody yesterday, and they might not have been here today if we didn’t have that Narcan,” Patterson said.
