COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A surveillance video shows EMT Brandon Long entering a patient’s bedroom, looking at a group of pill bottles, and putting a bottle of pills into his pants pocket.
The video of the alleged theft is from July 2014, when an AMR ambulance came to take a woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, to the hospital, reported 11 News.
The victim said she was waiting in the ambulance when an EMT allegedly went back into her home and stole her pain meds. When the patient got home from the hospital and was unable to find her pills, she reviewed her in-home surveillance video.
“I thought there’s no way somebody would steal from me when they’re here in my house, trying to help me. He seemed like a regular guy in the back, I had no idea he had my narcotic pills in his pocket,” said the patient to 11 News.
When AMR learned of the alleged theft, the EMT was suspended. Long is due to appear in court next month.
