FF/EMT pleads guilty to stealing money from crash victims

Tara Lindquist admitted to stealing $120 from the wallets of two teenage brothers killed in the crash

DALTON, Minn. — A volunteer firefighter/EMT accused of stealing cash from the wallets of two teenage brothers killed in a crash in June changed her plea to guilty Monday.

Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported that Tara Lindquist, 43, will serve 10 days in jail and one year of probation on misdemeanor theft charges. She was accused of stealing more than $100 from the brothers’ wallets and was ordered to pay $86 in restitution.

Lindquist admitted that she took $120 from a wallet she found lying in the road when she arrived first at the scene of the June 23 crash that killed Zach Kvalvog, 18, and his 14-year-old brother, Connor. She said she used the money to pay her power bill, according to the report.
